FORVI, Forcadell’s technical office, presents another comprehensive reform project in a property located in the Ciutat Vella district, one of the most touristic zones of Barcelona. This is a reform that required an update to adapt it to current needs and most of its structures have been preserved as it is in a protected urban zone.

The 106 m² flat (with the inner courtyard included) is an interior property that after the renovation has transformed its two bedrooms into a master bedroom and an adjoining dressing room. In addition, the windows and the wooden partitions on the roof have been restored, as well as the "Catalan volta" (a type of traditional Catalan vault construction) that can be found in the corridor that accesses the inner courtyard.
The project had several objectives to maximize its potential, such as recovering the “Catalan volta”, reform the bathroom but the main one was to allow more light into the totally interior flat (with no natural light) and to integrate the inner courtyard inside the property to gain an open space and give a livelier look. This plan opted also for an open-plan kitchen to take advantage of the space and generate a wider view of the flat.
Regarding to design, a Nordic style was chosen for its great simplicity without any obstacle to contribute to a distribution that aims to take advantage of the maximum possible space. In the decoration, white and wooden hued accents predominate to give this feeling of luminosity and warmth at the same time.
